Feral Art / Zoophilia

The first of the eight major furry discourses. I'm categorizing Feral Art and Zoophilia in the same place NOT because I think they are the same, but because I don't wanna take up a lot of space. I don't think they're the same, and I think they don't belong in the same category anyway. But that's alright.

I think, first of all, that feral art is totally fine. There's obviously lines to be drawn between furries, nsfw furry art, feral furry art, and genuine zoophilia. Drawing those lines is difficult, but here's what I genuinely think. I don't believe feral art, nor knots, nor cookies, are related to zoophilia at all. The initial argument is that "if you like knots, why are you mad about cookies? Same principle!" - to which most people will say "well then all nsfw furry art is zoophilia!" - NO. That's not how it works. When you look at something that you think is sexually attractive, your brain releases chemicals to induce sexual arousal. Knots and Cookies, much like any other furry art, are just drawn or animated shapes. No matter what you do, no matter how realistic, no matter the position or the dimensions or anything, it's just drawn or animated shapes. If you showed me a genuine, real image of an animal in a sexual way, I wouldn't like it. I always think back to the harkness test. And I think towards consent. If the thing that I am sexually attracted to exists, is real, can think for itself, but CANT express human level consent? I don't like it sexually.

The major takeaway of this point is the HUMAN LEVEL consent and communication. Anything can express consent, anything can express emotion and communication, whether or not it's human level is where the line is drawn for me. Morality and Legality is something you can take up with someone else. I'm not a zoophile, I never will be. I don't fuck animals, and I never will. This also goes the same for furries and fursuits! A lot of people will argue that being a furry, sexually, is zoophilia, because you're acting like an animal in a sexual way. And, yeah. That's true. If we're in the bedroom, and you start acting like an animal, and don't express genuine HUMAN LEVEL communication and consent, I don't want to do anything sexual with you.

I believe this sums up my opinions on the matter entirely and I stand by these opinions. I have for a very long time. When you're dealing with furries and adult spaces and zoophilia, the line is drawn at human intellect. Not just the ability to act or look like a human, but to communicate at the same level as a human. When both are applied, it's fine. It doesn't matter what the parts are, it matters what they're attached to!

Babyfurs / Pedophilia

Humorous that I used the BARQ logo for the button, right? Anyway...

This one's a fun one, and it's gonna upset a lot of people. If you've just come from my Feral Art / Zoophilia page, you'll know that the prevailing opinion is human level intellect and consent. In the realm of babyfurs and such, you can apply the same "humanity" logic, yes, and not doing so would make you hypocritical, but I believe that it's a different topic entirely and shouldn't be roped in with the same logic. If you act like a child, present yourself with childlike tendencies or intellect, it does not matter if you are a human, or an adult, or not. Children are not welcome in adult spaces, and never will be.

As stated in the beginning of this section, I don't care what you are or what you do behind closed doors. I'm not gonna judge, as long as you keep it away from me. If you cannot actively present to me that you can act, speak like, and physically be a consenting adult during the entire process, my brain can and will perceive it as too close to pedophilia. I don't think all babyfurs deserve to be outlawed from all general public spaces, in fact a fair amount of friends I've made over the years have been babyfurs, but it's with a conclusive understanding that if you act like a child around me I will take appropriate action as if you were an actual child.

The internet is too dangerous these days. I refuse to take the risk, even IF it was attractive to me, which it isn't. - Bottom line is, I just don't want anything to do with it personally.

Puphoods / Gear at Cons

This one's difficult, honestly, as I don't have many opinions about this.

I think, as a furry, you're allowed to wear whatever you want wherever you want. I don't really care, I guess. If you're wearing a fursuit head, I think that's cute, and I think it's fine. I do think, however, that puphoods should be exclusivized to NSFW spaces only. I can't say with absolute certainty that I think puphoods are an NSFW thing, but I do think they should be exclusivized to NSFW spaces mostly just for safety. 99% of things in regards to puphoods are NSFW, and you don't want kids to see that and go "look! I want one! I wanna be wear a leathered up puppy hood that will get me sexualized by everybody that sees it!", yknow? Like.. I'm really just messing around with that analysis, but like... Puphoods are extremely common in NSFW spaces, and it's a matter of keeping that as far from children and public spaces as possible.

The same argument can be made that fursuits and furries in general are a lewd space, and should be kept out of public spaces or exclusivized, but when I look up "furry" or "fursuit" I don't get anything NSFW for a VERY long scrolling session. As for puphoods? It's.. basically right at the top.

Poodling / Ruining the Magic

You're literally at a convention for furries. What "magic" is there to ruin? xD

This one's really simple and really easy. Wear whatever you want, man. It really doesn't matter. You could wear everything but a fursuit and as far as I'm concerned, I don't care! - I have a natural distaste for furry conventions to begin with, for my own reasons, but I especially hate the concept of people saying poodling is a bad thing. It's hot, it's uncomfortable, and some of us aren't rich as fuck. Wear whatever you want. Poodle. People who actually care are the problem. They don't kick people out of Comic-con because they aren't wearing a literal comic book around the convention.

Murrsuits

Honestly? Anything I'd have to say here also applies to the Feral Art / Zoophilia section above. Humanity. Harkness test. Blah blah blah.

As long as you're not wearing a murrsuit in public, it doesn't matter! Hell, some people wear murrsuits because taking off a whole suit to go to the bathroom is extremely annoying. As long as you aren't presenting sexual aspects in SFW spaces, noooooobody caaaareessss. move on. - Do please read my Feral Art / Zoophilia section if your issue with Murrsuits is the fact that they're sexualized, though. That'll explain my opinions on that half!

Furries Over 30

I don't get why people are mad about this, honestly. Being a furry is the simplest possible concept of being interested in a fandom. It doesn't matter how old you are.

The concept of being a furry is older than 90% of the fandom right now. To exclude furry ancestry is an issue. I understand placing age rules on political officials, or putting age restrictions on certain SFW or NSFW spaces, but putting an overall restriction on the furry fandom? That's crazy. I don't care how old you are! As long as you make it evident how old you are before anything goes too far, it's all good. Life moves too fast to be restricting things like that. People like Clayton Conway have founded this fandom from the ground up, and keep it alive the longer they're alive. Respect your ancestors, why's that so difficult to grasp?

Closed Species

Ehehe, time for a hot take! - I don't give a SHIT if you think your species is your property!

The furry fandom is supposed to be available for everybody. You can make a species, you can build it from the ground up, but it'll never be truly yours to keep. Otherwise, we'd have to be going around asking actual wolves and actual foxes if it's okay to make a fursona based off of their species. And, what about hybrids? And fictional creatures? Whatcha gonna do about it?

No but, seriously. If you make a species, and get mad at people for using it as a fursona, that's really shitty. Making unique creatures in this fandom is really difficult already, let's not gatekeep something like that. Just make the things you love and be happy. Otherwise, take it up with evolution! What are you gonna do if you make a closed-species hybrid sona and then it turns out that it's an actual real creature somewhere? Gonna sue science itself?

I only have two fursonas, but if I ever made another, I promise you it's gonna be a closed species. Just to make YOU people mad!

Therians

Kay, we're gonna call this section a WIP.

I don't know what the drama is around therians. I know what a therian is, I think they're cool, but.. I don't know what the issue is with them and the furry community? I've never seen this issue before, to be honest. So.. I dunno. Isn't it about people who think they're real animals at heart? I.. I don't know. If anybody DOES know, please tell me!
